Day 9: Focus
I mentioned early on in our 12 days of wellness that in American culture, holidays revolve heavily around food. I'm always fascinated by the social dynamics of food and eating; how strongly tradition and memories effect our thoughts on what we eat. But what if we started to look at things differently?
What if we took the focus off food? The holiday season is the perfect time to shift our perspective to the things that matter most. Family, friends, a spirit of giving, hope for the future, music, fun, decorations, festive outings, cozy settings, the list goes on...
This season is about so much more than the food we have on our plate. Maybe you can take 5 minutes today to make a list, in your head or on paper, of what you want to focus on this week.
The next few days are going to fly by and I'm taking a few minutes today to remind myself to pause and enjoy. Enjoy the moments with family, quiet evenings sitting by our Christmas tree, driving through neighborhoods to look at lights, watching my favorite Christmas movies and listening to festive music, the hope of things to come next year.
Peace and wellness, to you.
Until tomorrow,
